Geological Surveys in Canada: Helping Meet Society's Economic, Environmental and Social Needs
Geological surveys exist at the national, provincial and territorial levels of government in Canada. Their roles include creation and dissemination of high quality, peer-reviewed maps and publications on Canada's geology, earth resources, and environment. There are 13 distinct geological surveys in Canada, the federal Geological Survey of Canada, nine provincial surveys (all provinces but P.E.I.), and one for each of our northern territories. The work of the surveys supports society by providing unbiased information for decision makers, industry and the public to make informed decisions about our use of the earth. This invitation-only poster session, sponsored by the National Geological Surveys Committee, highlights the programs and contributions of each geological survey in Canada in support of our economy, our environment, and our society. Invitees may submit an abstract here, under the session title ‘Role and Contribution of Geological Surveys in Canada’.
