GAC021FT Education and Learning at the Royal Tyrrell Museum


A field trip being organized for high school science teachers taking the Putting the Earth in Science Workshop at GeoCanada 2010 is also suitable for those with educational interest at other levels, including university educators and those who do earth science outreach to public.  The trip will include a guided hike in the badlands, a Badlands/Goodlands workshop and a tour of the Learning Centre (including distance learning studio).  And of course there will be an opportunity to tour the museum gallery. We are opening up 20 spaces for regular delegates to the conference.  The trip will depart and end at the Geological Survey of Canada, 3303 - 33rd Street NW, Calgary, AB T2L 2A7.

Dr. Godfrey S. Nowlan is a research scientist at the Geological Survey of Canada and President of the Canadian Geoscience Education Network.  He will be looking after logistics and providing a travelling commentary on the coach.  At the Museum, Earle Wiebe, the Science Education Administrator at the Royall Tyrrell Museum, and his staff will conduct the workshop, guided hike and tour of the Learning Centre.
