This poster competition, open to students grade 7-12 from across Canada will inspire students to understand the geology of their local area – the earth under their feet. Students from two or three towns, villages or cities from each province will be invited to submit posters highlighting geological aspects of their community – earth scientists will work with each school, teacher or municipal office to help the students collect the data for their poster. This program will
- Expose / introduce students to geosciences
- Understand how the geology in their area is related to the geology of other students in other schools/communities across the country
- Increase science literacy among students
- Enable students to make more informed decisions about environment issues in their local area
- Encourage students to explore the bigger scientific issues objectively.
